On Wednesday, the New York Giants interviewed the second candidate for their general manager position. Former Panthers GM Dave Gettleman, who has ties with the Giants, interviewed in front of owner John Mara for the open vacancy.
Gettleman spent 15 years with the Giants from 1998-2012, helping the Giants win two Super Bowl's. From there, Gettleman spent 4 years as the Panther GM where he helped put together a team that would get to Super Bowl 50. When he was fired, it was a shock to lots of people throughout the NFL, including Panthers players who vocally came out in support of him.
Gettleman is the second to interview for the Giants GM opening, behind VP of Player Personnel Marc Ross.
Whoever the new GM is, they'll have a number of issues on their hands. Eli Manning will be going into his 15th season with the team should he be on the roster next season. Do they keep Manning, or try to cut or trade him? There will also have to be discussions about Odell Beckham Jr's future. Pay him now, pay him later, or maybe move on from him? What about a head coach? Who will the GM best pair up with at the head coaching position? And lastly, What do the Giants do with their 1st round draft pick, which will likely be a top 3 pick?
