Last night in the Times Union, the Iona Gaels men's basketball team defeated the Fairfield Stags 83-71; The Stags had made an improbable run through the conference tournament, reaching the championship game as the conference's sixth overall seed. During the ESPN broadcast, the team of Jason Benetti and Jay Bilas detailed an emotional moment between player Tyler Nelson and head coach Sydney Johnson.

 

Nelson left the court for a final time as a Fairfield Stag. One of the all time great players in program history, Nelson leaves as the school's all time leading scorer with over 2,000 career points.
