The guidelines will finally be issued Monday. It's been tough to figure out what the exact logic has been behind why some businesses have been allowed to open while others haven't. While larger stores have been open all along, malls had to add new filters when they were finally allowed to open. Restaurants could open if you ate food when you got there but gyms and bowling alleys remained closed. For gym owners and fitness enthusiasts, Monday can't get here fast enough.

I know what you're thinking "Levack you're out of shape. You don't care about the gym." Well, the reason I care about the gym is that I'm fat. Since I truly rededicating myself to my fitness journal two years ago, I've lost 30 pounds. I have A LONG way to go but with the gyms being closed that journey was nearly impossible for me. So while the gyms remained closed while almost every single other industry in the state was being given guidance to start reopening I've been really struggling.

I don't know what the exact guidelines will be but the fact that we're moving in the right direction I'm excited to get back to work on my weight loss.

"The New York State Fitness Alliance thanks Gov. Cuomo for his continued leadership in reopening the economy in an intelligent way," said Bill Lia, Chair of New York State Fitness Alliance and whose family operates multiple Vent Fitness businesses in the Capital Region. "The fitness industry is ready to reopen safely, with proper protocols in place to protect our employees and members. We look forward to providing New Yorkers access to safe fitness facilities so they can advance their physical and mental health."

“While the other states are seeing real trouble, we are doing really well," Cuomo said. "We have to protect the progress and quarantine from other states.”
