Congratulations to Houston Astros rookie first baseman and former Tri-City ValleyCats player Tyler White on winning the American League Player of the Week award.

White hit three homers and drove in nine this week en route to hitting .556 with a .591 on-base percentage. He did that damage against the Yankees and the Brewers. He's ascended fast to the big leagues, as he started his professional career in just 2013.

He played with the ValleyCats that season for 28 games, hitting .286 with three home runs and 25 RBIs. He helped Tri-City capture the New York-Penn League title that season.

This just goes to show you that you never know who will become who when you go to "The Joe" to watch a Cats game. Hunter Pence, Ben Zobrist, Jose Altuve, Dallas Keuchel, George Springer, JD Martinez, Jason Castro and Astros top prospect AJ Reed have all played for the 'Cats.

The ValleyCats season begins this year on June 17 at "The Joe" against the Connecticut Tigers.
