The praise for Kobe Bryant poured in from all over the sports world yesterday as the "Black Mamba" got set to play his last game ever. That last game was quite the spectacle, as Bryant scored 60 points.

Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and several other A-list celebrities traveled to Los Angeles to see the final game while players from around the league sent Kobe a video message.

Here in the Capital Region, we have a slight connection to Kobe as Glens Falls native Jimmer Fredette posted this on Twitter yesterday:

Fredette added on Facebook that his first NBA game ever was against Kobe. A pretty cool tribute from a Capital Region native and pretty cool to think that a kid from the 518 could match up with one of the best players in NBA history.

Fredette finished this season as a member of the Westchester Knicks of the NBA D-League. He averaged more than 21 points a game.
