The New York Knicks can't seem to catch a break regarding injuries to their team.  OG Anunoby is still out dealing with the same elbow injury he suffered in early February.  And now earlier on Thursday morning news broke that Julius Randle will miss the rest of the regular season and have season ending surgery to repair a shoulder injury he suffered back in January.  It is a crushing blow for the Knicks playoff chances in a stacked Eastern Conference but it feels like the Knicks delayed the inevitable internally.  Even Randle's teammate Josh Hart said how he would be surprised if he saw both Anunoby and Randle see the floor the rest of this season.  It hurts the Knicks as Randle is a key piece who averages a double double and plays hard physical defense.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

The New York Knicks once promising season is over especially with Julius Randle opting for season ending shoulder surgery. Too many injuries to overcome to make a serious run this season and that's disappointing because back in January the Knicks were one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks could get as a high as a three seed but could finish as low as an eight seed and with only seven games remaining in the regular season only time will tell down the stretch here but I don't see the Knicks making it very far in the 2024 NBA playoffs unfortunately.
