Have These Guys Played Their Last Snaps With The Buffalo Bills?
The off-season has been an eventful one for the Bills this year. We've lost some players and signed some. But these players are still waiting on new contracts.
It's hard to remember that the NFL is a business and it has to be treated that way. While we begin to really like or dislike a player, NFL owners and General Managers have to look at them as assets. Will they bring value to the team?
Sadly, if they don't feel like they will bring value to the field that they're looking for, sometimes they have to just let them go. In the case of these free agents, we still don't know if they're going to be back with the Bills or somewhere else.
The Bills have lost a couple players to other teams
Going into the off-season, we kind of figured that Tremaine Edmunds might be gone. His contract was up and he was about to become a top linebacker in the league. That was confirmed just a few days into free agency when he signed a four-year $72 million contract with the Chicago Bears.
Devin Singletary was another big starter that signed elsewhere. He was able to ink a $3.25 million contract with the Texans. Backup quarterback Case Keenum will join him there also.
The Giants were able to snag wide receiver Jamison Crowder from us and tight end Tommy Sweeney.
The Raiders grabbed offensive linemen Greg Van Roten and Justin Murray and Safety Jaquan Johnson.
Fan favorite wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie headed off to Indianapolis to join the Colts.
The Bills were able to re-sign a bunch though
While we lost a couple to other teams, the Bills were able to hold on to some very notable players including Jordan Poyer, Jordan Phillips, and offensive lineman Ike Boettger. Here's the full list of players we re-signed:
- Jordan Poyer
- Jordan Phillips
- Shaq Lawson
- Dane Jackson
- Cam Lewis
- Tyler Matakevich
- David Quessenberry
- Sam Martin
- Tyrel Dodson
- AJ Klein
- Dean Marlow
So what does that mean about the rest? These are the players that are free agents who still haven't signed back on to play with the Bills this year.
