In 1981, the New York State Boys Basketball Tournament found a home in Glens Falls. It's been a great relationship ever since.

It appears that will continue through 2016. Glens Falls was the only city to submit a bid so it looks like the tournament will stay put.

There was some discussion about the Carrier Dome (Syracuse University) entering the bidding war but that never materialized.

The tournament at Glens Falls has been a profit maker for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association making over $2.5 million.

Tournament officials have done a wonderful job keeping the event in Glens Falls, not an easy venture. It takes a giant volunteer force to put on such a show.

Of course, businesses in Glens Falls are excited about the news because it brings spectators downtown, where the Civic Center is located.

The tournament committee will get to work and make a presentation to a NYSPHSAA regional committee next month and then the official announcement is schedule in Lake George in August.
