Great 3rd Period Comeback Propels Devils Past Syracuse
It took more then half the season but the Albany Devils can claim a season 1st. By scoring 4 goals in the 3rd period Saturday night at Syracuse, the Devils not only won a big game against the high flying Crunch but claimed their 1st win this year when trailing after 2 periods.
The Crunch had a 2-0 lead going to the final stanza. It didn't last long and it fell hard. The red hot Matt Anderson who notched his 2nd straight 3 point game after being returned to the team from parent Albany led the way and got the Devs going.
At 4:03 of the 3rd Anderson helped get the Devils on the scoreboard, feeding Joe Whitney for a goal. A little over 6 minutes later Scott Parse scored, tying the game.
Anderson scored at 12:01 off a feed from Chris McKelvie that gave the Devils the lead 3-2. Tim Sestito finished off Albany's scoring 5 minutes later. Syracuse scored with a few seconds left and that finished the scoring in this thrilling come from behind Albany win.
Keith Kinkaid who has been red hot in goal won another game with a solid effort, stopping 27 shots. Kinkaid now has 15 wins on the year.
The Devils continue their 5 game road trip with a match Sunday night at Binghamton
