Whenever I bring up biking I like to preface it with the comment I haven't been on a bike in years, I can't remember the last time I took a bike out and rode. Biking like Pickle Ball is fast becoming something everyone is out doing, For years it was kayaking now it seems to be pedaling yourself down a trail.

I am beginning to feel that I am behind in the activities all my friends are doing. I have good friends who now bike every weekend. It makes me want to drag down the ten-speed I have stored in my garage and join them. Pickle Ball I can wait on that's a game I would most likely get hurt trying.

May is National Bike Month

May is National Bike Month and it is actively promoted by the League of American Bicyclists. Bike Month dates back to 1956. During National Bike Month we have many other bike-inspired celebrations including a day set aside for you to bike to work.

That right bike to work. Just like you rode your bike to school why not ride your bike to work? I wish I could bike to work I can only imagine the shape I'd be in. The truth is many of us would benefit from biking to work but in reality, it probably isn't logical to do. The average commuter in the Hudson Valley is just too darn long.

It is National Bike to Work Week

A Hudson Valley commute on average in a car is approximately 33 minutes. Converting that to a bike trip for most would result in people having to leave for work much earlier. According to LIVESTRONG.com the average person covers about 6 miles in 30 minutes so do the math for your job,

On a positive note biking around the Hudson Valley got a whole lot easier now that we have so many trails leading from town to town. Not to mention that the Empire State Trail cut right through the heart of our community. You really can get just about everywhere in the Hudson Valley by using the trail systems that are expanding on both sides of the Hudson River.
