SYRACUSE, NY - #6 overall best market for first-time homebuyers in the United States. The median list price for a home is $169,900. Combine that with forecasted price growth of 12.4% and you have a very attractive market to purchase a home.

ROCHESTER, NY - #1 overall best market for first-time homebuyers in the United States. The median list-price for a home is just $139,900. Realtor.com claims Rochester has a relatively low price-to-income ratio, with the typical listed home priced at 2.9 times the median salary of $48,617 for 25- to 34-year-olds.
