New York State Police Cracking Down At Summer Concerts! Warning, Don’t Do It
Tens of thousands of concertgoers will make their way to Saratoga, and cities around New York State, this weekend to attend concerts such as TLC, Shaggy Hot Summer Nights and the 2 sold out Dead & Co. shows at SPAC as we officially begin the summer concert season.
If you are planning to attend any show in New York State this summer you will need to know what you are allowed to bring into each venue. Policies vary on certain items such as food, water, lawn chairs, etc. New York State Police and officials from the New York State DMV will be on the look out for one item in particular, your fake ID.
DMV investigators have partnered with investigators from the State Liquor Authority, State Police, State Parks Police and local law enforcement for 'Operation Prevent'. This is a summer-long, statewide, crackdown on the use of fake IDs to purchase alcohol at concert venues.
Operation Prevent is currently underway and will continue until September 17th. Here are some of the venues where sweeps will be conducted;
- Saratoga Performing Arts Center
- Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater
- Darien Lake Performing Arts Center
- CMAC in Canandaigua
- Lakeview Amphitheater in Syracuse
Should you be caught using a false ID to buy alcohol you could be ticketed and your license could be suspended or revoked for a minimum of 90 days or up to one year.
You may think we’re trying to spoil your fun, but it is not fun to end up in a hospital, a jail or a morgue from a night spent drinking when you’re underage. - Mark J.F. Schroeder, DMV Commissioner and Chair of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee
