Cannabis dispensaries are slowly opening all over New York State. After the first one, Upstate Canna Co, opened earlier this month on Upper Union Street in Schenectady, the second dispensary will be opening in the Captial Region soon.
A Second Cannabis Dispensary in the Capital Region Will Open Soon
The second cannabis dispensary in the Capital Region got the green light to open soon. Stage One Dispensary will be the next cannabis dispensary to open. It will open in the old Rensselaer County Bank at 810 Broadway in Rensselaer.
The building is located right off exit 7 of the I-90 and near the Rensselaer train station exit. Stage One Dispensary will have twelve hundred and fifty square feet.
The Owners of Stage One Dispensary Had Past Convictions for Cannabis
Owners John Mirsky and Nate Innes who are lifetime friends have both had legal issues with cannabis in the past. New York State offered licenses to those who have had past cannabis convictions. They say they hope to educate their clientele about cannabis. They feel there is a lot of fear associated with the use of cannabis according to News 10ABC.
They Are Hoping to Open More Locations in the Capital Region and Beyond
With our license, we’re allowed to have three stores. So we definitely plan to expand our footprint around the region.
They also look forward to expanding their business outside the state when the federal prohibition is lifted. The hope is to operate a cannabis dispensary just like a normal business.
When Will Stage One Dispensary Open?
The second cannabis store in the Capital Region will start to roll out deliveries in May. Then in June their storefront should be up and running.
