SUNY Maritime

Located in historic Fort Schuyler, Bronx, New York, SUNY Maritime is the oldest and  largest maritime school in the nation, teaching students everything they need to work on the sea. They offer Undergraduate programs in engineering, naval architecture, marine transportation, maritime studies, and more.

It has over a 90% career placement rate post-grad, and offers avenues into the Coast Guard and other professions on the water. It's considered the cream of the crop for students who want to pursue careers in Marine, Naval, and Maritime fields.

The Empire State VII

SUNY Maritime isn't just a campus, it also has its own floating classroom: The Empire State VII. This is a National Security Multi-mission Vessel, meant for training the crew on board. Every summer, the ship is manned by students 24/7 for 75 days over the summer.

This summer was a special one, as the new ship made its first stop in the Capital Region, visiting the Port of Albany on Thursday, July 9th. It was open to the public for two hours before beginning its voyage back to sea, where it will remain until their return in the fall semester to the SUNY Maritime campus.
