Who Doesn't Love a Good Drive-In Movie?

There was something special about going to the drive-in as a kid. Granted, my dad may or may not have tried to sneak one of my cousins in for free by hiding them under a blanket in the back seat.

We'd pile into the family car, grab popcorn and candy from the concession stand, and stay up way past bedtime watching movies under the stars. Those are the kinds of summer memories that stick with you forever.

Throwin' It Back at the Malta Drive-In

Now, one of the Capital Region's most beloved summer traditions is leaning into that nostalgia.

The Malta Drive-In has been welcoming movie lovers since 1949, making it one of the longest-running drive-in theaters in the country. Located on Route 9 in Malta, it's still one of the most affordable nights out around.

The Malta Drive-In Theatre has announced its Throwback Thursday movie series, featuring classic double features throughout the summer.

Which Classics are They Showing?

The nostalgic lineup includes fan favorites like Airplane! and Spaceballs, Jaws and Jurassic Park, Grease and Dirty Dancing, Back to the Future and The Blues Brothers, The NeverEnding Story, Labyrinth, Little Shop of Horrors, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, and a special Christmas in July night featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Elf, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and Planes, Trains & Automobiles.

Admission is just $12 for adults and $7 for children 11 and under—about half the price of many indoor theaters. Whether you're reliving your childhood or introducing these classics to a new generation, Throwback Thursdays look like one of the best ways to spend a summer evening in the Capital Region.
