Soup’s On! Downtown Troy Chowderfest Returns This Weekend
Certain foods hit differently once fall arrives in Upstate New York, and a warm cup of chowder while wandering around Downtown Troy is definitely one of them.
Downtown Troy Chowderfest returns Sunday, October 11th, starting at noon, bringing dozens of creative chowders to restaurants and businesses throughout the Collar City.

Admission is free, and instead of committing to one giant bowl, you can bounce around downtown sampling 4-ounce portions for just $2 each...and these aren't all your standard clam chowders.
Check Out Some of This Year's Creations:
- McAddy’s Pub: Birria Potato Chowder
- La Capital Tacos: Birria Chowder with beef brisket, guajillo chile, and Oaxaca cheese
- Ryan’s Wake: New England Clam Chowder
- Bootleggers on Broadway: Chipotle Sausage & Shrimp Corn Chowder
- Brown’s Brewing Company: Jambalaya Chowder with breaded chicken
- Bard & Baker: Philly Cheesesteak Chowder
- Slidin’ Dirty: Cheeseburger Chowder with bacon, fried pickle, and Dirty Secret Sauce
- Dinosaur Bar-B-Que: Smoked Corn and Pork Belly Chowder
And somehow we haven't even gotten to Whiskey Pickle's Pickle Potato Chowder, which sounds weird enough that I absolutely need to know what it tastes like.

Festival-goers can make their way around Downtown Troy, sample as many as their stomach allows, and then vote for the People’s Choice winner.

Organizers say the festival also features family-friendly entertainment, and organizers say they'll provide updates throughout the day if individual vendors sell out.
Honestly, this is exactly how I want to spend a fall Sunday: walking around Troy, eating an irresponsible amount of soup four ounces at a time.
