The New York Yankees returned to glory in the late '90s under Manager Joe Torre. The Torre-led Yankees won four World Series. Over the weekend, Torre gave the commencement speech at Skidmore College and he was nice enough to take a few minutes and call into the show. After a full career both on the field and in the dugout, Torre is now the MLB's Chief Baseball Officer and assists with making the game better. So what does Torre think could be better about today's game?

Early in the conversation when asked to compare the 1996 Yankees to the 2019 Yankees Torre pointed out 96 didn't have the power this Yankees team does but they also didn't strike out as much. Torre said he's worried about the strikeout or homerun mindset of today's game. There just aren't enough balls put into play.

Joe Torre was here on 5/18/2019 and below you can hear the interview from his call with us.
