Jordan Montgomery Proves He Belongs In Starting Rotation
Coming into the season easily the biggest question facing the New York Yankees was the starting pitching. CC Sabathia was supposed to be washed up but he's 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA through three starts. Michael Pineda was a wild card at best but after a rough first start, he's 2-1 and flirted with a perfect game. Luis Severino is a 23 year old that some have already labeled a bust but even he has been good. Masahiro Tanaka was the only "sure thing" but even he had his doubters. Those four were the guys guaranteed a spot in the rotation. The Yankees waited until the last possible minute to name their fifth and final starter, Lefty Jordan Montgomery.
The rookie just left his second start with a VERY respectable stat line of 6 innings pitched giving up 3 runs on a home run, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. This reliable left handed pitcher is exactly what the Yankees needed this season especially with James Kaprilian getting Tommy John Surgery.
