The names and colors of the thirty first NHL team was officially announced Tuesday night. The Las Vegas Golden Knights will begin play during the 2017-2018 season. The Golden Knights nickname is the same as the capital region's own The College of Saint Rose's nickname. Before the announcement of the team's new identity the franchise's majority owner Bill Foley spoke with ESPN.com. Foley said

"We are the Golden Knights. My whole idea was to create a logo and a name that was powerful, that would epitomize the warrior class. The knights are the epitome of the warrior class, the top of the line in terms of defending the realm, defending the unprotected. This is all part of the culture we want to create with the hockey team. And hockey players are warriors and they're team players, they're not individuals, they're playing together."

The Golden Knights will call the newly constructed T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas home for the forseeable future. The official schedule for the Golden Knights will be released in 2017.
