Levack’s Perfect Father’s Day Gift from Beef Jerky Outlet

I've been going to the Beef Jerky Outlet for a while now. It's close to my house, right on Route 9 in Latham and, as you have heard me talk about on air, I just love the place. Usually, I go there with my daughter and get the Snack Pack. I pick up six 3 oz. packages and get the seventh free. It's strategy really: If I get three for her and four for me, I know she won't eat it before I get a chance to dig in.

With Father's Day coming up, I decided to figure out my gift (you know, the gift my teenage daughter is getting for me, with my money, you know how it goes) and Beef Jerky Outlet immediately came to mind. I hopped in my truck and headed over there last Thursday morning to check out what they have going on for the holiday.

Beefy Jerky Outlet has a deal called the Share Pack, where you can bundle three 8 oz. bags together and get a discount. Of course, because this is my gift, I probably won't be sharing it. The selection is huge — over 100 varieties I am told — but they have tasting stations around the store so you can try before you buy.

The only problem with picking three was just how many options I had to choose from. It's legitimately hard to narrow it down! After trying a half-dozen or so flavors and looking at I-don't-know-how-many more, I picked out:

• Cracked Black Pepper
• Prime Rib
• Sweet and Spicy

We'll see if it makes it a day past Father's Day, but I might put it all down in a day. You all know I've been working out with a trainer lately and the best part is he doesn't give me any grief for eating this. High protein and no extra time on the treadmill.

It's not just jerky though. I didn't know this when I started going there, but they also have hot sauces you can't find anywhere else and some really great gourmet popcorn (my favorite is the Chicago blend - that's cheddar and caramel). I also picked up a garlic hot sauce on my way out because I couldn't resist.

Now I just have to wait until Father's Day so I can eat it.
