As the summer baseball season gets send to end across the country, that means that it's time for championships to be awarded.

And one of those champions was crowned on Sunday night as the Amsterdam Mohawks toppled the Utica Blue Sox by a score of 13-2 at Shuttleworth Park to win the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.

The title was cool for me to see because Mohawks assistant baseball coach Anthony Spataro played for me when I coached at Hudson Valley Community College in the year of 2013.

Also, cool for us at 104.5 The Team as our former intern Brendan Reilley is the voice of the Mohawks.

Amsterdam is always a strong team in the PGCBL and always boasts a roster with professional players on it.

This year's team had a local flavor on the field as well, as Burnt Hills grad Dan Maynard was on the roster as was Colonie graduate Eric Downey.
