As of the 2013-14 season, The Memphis Tigers will officially be members of the Big East conference in all sports.  They will be leaving their current conference, Conference USA, for a place they have long been wanting to be in.  Louisville coach Rick Pitino has been a big supporter of Memphis to the Big East for some time now, and Tennessee congressman Steve Cohen thanked him for the support yesterday when the announcement was made.

Memphis' big sport is basketball, but the Big East is hoping that they will also bring some promise into their dwindling football program.  Big East officials are hoping for their own conference championship game in football eventually, and bring in Memphis could be a big part of getting that done.
