New York’s Congressman ‘Pinocchio’ Set To Face Fed Charges

Telling the truth has not been characteristic revealed by rookie-Congressman George Santos in his short tenure in the United States House of Representatives. Despite being caught in dozens of lies from the campaign trail and on, Santos has continued to represent his New York constituents. That could be until now.

According to a CNN report on Tuesday, the Long Island Republican has been charged by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn. The charges come after an investigation into the congressman's financial disclosures and campaign activities.

According to nymag.com, in the last year, Santos has lied about where he went to high school; where he went to college; where his money came from; his religion and more. Pinocchio would struggle with a nose from Santos' lies. CNN is reporting that the congressman, from portions of Nassau and Queens counties, could appear in Federal Court in Brooklyn as early as Wednesday to face federal charges. Charges that could result in his removal from congress.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told CNN on Tuesday,“I’ll look at the charges,” said the top Republican from California before determining if he thinks Santos should be removed. FBI and U.S. Department of Justice have been investigating allegations that stem from Santos’ campaign filings and statements made on the campaign trail by the congressman. No specific charges have been released, so far. One allegation, reported by patch.com, was a report that Santos allegedly stole money from a disabled veteran who came to him for help fund a life-saving surgery for his dog. It appears the congressman may finally get his due.
