In a stunning overnight development, the man known as the Blade Runner, Oscar Pistorius, has been arrested and charged with murder in his native South Africa.

Pistorius is accused of shooting his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp who has been named by men's magazine FHM as one of the world's top 100 sexiest women.

Pistorius claims he thought he was shooting at an intruder. Some reports from South Africa have claimed his home, which is in a gated community, has been burglarized in the past. Steenkamp was shot four times.

In one of her final tweets, Steenkamp seemed to be excited about Valentine's Day. The tweet, which appears at this time to have come from her account, said "what do you have up your sleeve for tomorrow? It should be a day of love for everyone."

Police claim they found a 9mm pistol at the home and claim there is no other suspect at this time.

Pistorius has had his share of controversy in his competitive career. Born without legs, the much accomplished Pistorius has won many Paralympic medals and won court battles to compete with Olympic athletes despite having carbon fiber blades as legs. Some of his fellow runners have claimed it gives him a competitive advantage.

Pistorius competed in two events at the recent London games including the 400 meters.

Originally Pistorius was scheduled to have his court hearing Thursday in South Africa but that was postponed while forensic investigators collected and examined evidence.
