ESPN's Adam Schefter has tweeted out documentation that appears to show that Jason Pierre-Paul's right index finger has been amputated.

Amongst the sad news for both Pierre-Paul and the Giants organization, Schefter followed up with this:

It's been a week of up and down emotions as Pierre-Paul had a fireworks incident at his South Florida home over the weekend.

Pierre-Paul received a franchise tag offer from the Giants earlier this summer for $14.8 million guaranteed and he has yet to sign it. Latest reports indicate that he will not sign the tender until he is 100%.

“We need him," Giants offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz told Armen and Levack on 104.5 The Team this week.

"He’s a franchise player. Those don’t come around that often. He had 12 and a half sacks last year and some consider that a down year. He’s an impact player. He’s a guy [that] teams have to gameplan for, which opens up for other guys.”

Pierre-Paul remains in the Miami hospital and is not expected to report with the team later this month.
