Only two college football programs finished the 2016 regular season undefeated. One of those teams, the Alabama Crimson Tide is playing for the national championship Monday night. The other team is the Western Michigan Broncos led by head coach PJ Fleck. Fleck led his Broncos to a MAC championship and a bid to the Cotton Bowl. Western Michigan came up short losing to the Wisconsin Badgers 24-16. Today, multiple reports are indicating that Fleck will leave Western Michigan and join the Minnesota Golden Gophers football staff. Minnesota capped off their season with a win in the Holiday Bowl over Washington State. The nine wins by the Golden Gophers is the second most for the program since 1905. However it was not the lack of success that cost former coach Tracy Claeys his job. Clayes' former players threatened to boycott the game over the scandal sexual assault case involving ten players. Minnesota kicks off their season in 2017 against Buffalo on August 31st.
