Much ado has been made about the fact that the Times Union got scooped on the hiring of Jamion Christian at Siena. Here’s the bottom line: Good reporting is going the extra mile and not believing an official talking head without working your own sources to get the real story. We knew- and reported accurately- the story 5 days before anyone else. Anyone who claims otherwise is suffering from a case of sour grapes.
