Yum! Capital Region University Unveils New ‘Stewart’s Shops’ Ice Cream Flavor
The staff, students and alumni of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, commonly known as RPI, have contributed a great deal to the Capital Region, and to society at-large, over the last 200 years. As the university begins its bicentennial celebration, it has partnered with Stewart's Shops to make yet another contribution to our area.
We have to admit: what they're doing is pretty sweet.
RPI, Stewart's Shops Partner to Create "Quantum Freeze" Ice Cream Flavor
As was announced on the university's social media pages, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Stewart's Shops have come together to create a new ice cream flavor. The flavor is called Quantum Freeze, and will be available at local Stewart's locations beginning on February 5th.
Here is the official announcement, as posted on Facebook:
As mentioned by the post, the unique flavor blends tart cherry swirl, red and blue Pop Rocks, and vanilla ice cream. It will truly be a one-of-a-kind ice cream experience when it hits Stewart's ice cream counters in February.
This sweet treat is one of a handful of ways in which RPI is celebrating their 200th year, as Rensselaer School was established on November 5, 1824. Here are a few of the bicentennial highlights:
- Bicentennial logo, which is based on a mobius strip
- Bicentennial microsite, Rensselaerfirsts, which highlights over 100 “firsts” across RPI’s history
Also, on October 13, 2023, RPI and IBM held a ceremonial groundbreaking to celebrate the first-ever deployment of an IBM Quantum System One on a university campus. The ceremony featured a grand reveal of the IBM Quantum System One chandelier, the intricately wired golden structure containing the quantum processor chip.
It's an exciting time at RPI, and now, everyone can celebrate with a scoop of Quantum Freeze.
