The New Orleans Saints just can’t help themselves. A few weeks after Commissioner Goodell leveled their coaching staff and front office with record suspensions, a report has leaked that GM Mickey Loomis used a rewired device from 2002-2004 that allowed him to eavesdrop on opposing coaches.

The allegations of electronic spying are being investigated by the US Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Louisiana, who have acknowledged that they are aware of the accusations, but have refused to comment any further. According to sources the Attorney for the district has contacted the FBI about the allegations, which not only violate NFL codes of conduct, but could also be a federal crime. If Loomis was indeed intercepting electronic communications he could have been in violation of the federal Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) which prohibits such activity.

The Saints VP of Communications Greg Bensel has called these rumors “1,000 percent false… 1,000 percent inaccurate.”
