The New Orleans Saints made a big financial move yesterday as the new NFL season nears. The team released WR Marques Colston amid salary cap issues facing them heading into the new league year. The team let go of him as they set their sights to re-signing QB Drew Brees and other players.

Colston, 32, was one of Brees' favorite receivers as he leads the franchise in receiving yards (9,752) and touchdowns (72). He also helped lead the Saints to a Super Bowl XLIV win over Peyton manning and the Indianapolis Colts in 2009.

The 10-year veteran will now become a free agent for the first time in his career after spending it entirely in New Orleans.

Who knows if he will be signed, however, his services may be needed by a number of teams around the league with wide receiver issues.

Do you think Colston will play for another team next season?
