It was a two-for-one last night at the Times Union Center as both the Shen boys' and girls' basketball teams captured the Section II Class AA title.

For the Plainsmen boys', it's the second consecutive title. They also won the state championship a year ago. For the girls', it's the second title in three years.

The boys put away a stingy Green Tech team in the second half to win 64-46, but it was just 31-29 at the half.

Junior Luke Hicks led the way with 25 points for the Plainsmen as Maryland-bound senior Kevin Huerter had 15. Mike Pizziketti added 12.

They'll play Saturday at 1:45 p.m. at Hudson Valley Community College in the regional round.

The Shen girls topped Albany, 67-62 behind 23 points from junior Sydney Brown. They also got 15 from Binghamton-bound senior and NYS Ms. Basketball Nominee Carly Boland. Samira Sangare added 11 in the Plainsmen win.

For Albany, Ayanna Hunter, a very productive point guard, had 21 points.
