The Shenendehowa High School wrestling is coming off a couple of excellent performances in prestigious tournaments.

In the Union-Endicott Duals, Shen placed first, finishing 3-0 in round robin competition, beating Monroe-Woodbury, 51-29, in the semifinals and finally knocking off Spencerport, 47-22, for the championship.

Columbia took eighth place in the tourney.

Then Nick Kelley and Tony Fusco brought home first place honors as Shen placed second in the Eastern States Championship.

Wyoming Seminary captured the event with 248 points while Shen compiled 159.

Kelley won the 132-pound weight class and Fusco excelled in the 195 category. Cole Lampman, also of Shenendehowa, was second at 285 and Amsterdam's Brandon Lapi earned third in 113.

Other Section II finishers included 106-Corey Ali (Shen) sixth, 126-Noah Valastro (Hudson Falls) seventh, 160-Aaron Dudley (Hudson Falls) second, Connor Sutton (LaSalle) fourth, 170-Mike Hewitt (Queensbury) eighth, 182-Levi Ashley (Shenendehowa) seventh, Matt Lashway (Queensbury) eighth, 195-Zachary Diekel (Whitehall) fourth, 220-Jon Babson (LaSalle) fourth, Alex Pontiff (Queensbury) seventh, and 285-Matt Mender (Glens Falls) eighth.

Fourteen players, four coaches and two officials are being recognized in the Capital District Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2012.

The players are Babe Baldwin (Mayfield), Michelle Blot-Karangwa (Colonie/Siena), Barry Cavanaugh (Rensselaer/UAlbany), Andre Cook (Watervliet/Skidmore), Josh Duell (CBA/Vermont/Siena), Joe Girard (St. Mary’s/Shenendehowa/LeMoyne) Val Klopfer (Bishop Maginn/Wake Forest), Byron Miller (Gloversville/UAlbany), Carm Maciariello (Shenendehowa/New Hampshire/Siena), Mac Supronowicz (Mont Pleasant/Michigan), Howie Tucker (Ravena/Siena), Troy Turner (Albany/Siena/Potsdam) and Jack Weaver (Siena).

Mike Deane (Siena/Marquette/Lamar/Wagner), Dave Doemel (CBA), Bill Kalbaugh (Mechanicville/RPI) and John Quattrochi (UAlbany/Skidmore) are the coaches while Sandy Brousseau and Willard Dorn chosen as officials that will be inducted with the rest of the Class of 2012 June 24.

You can order your tickets now for the annual New York State Boys Basketball Tournament at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The tournament is scheduled March 16-18.

Tickets can be purchased at the Civic Center or via the Internet at www.glensfallscc.com. Individual tickets are $10 per session.

Special packages are also being offered this year, including a "flex" ticket for $8 that entitles the holder to choose any session they would like to attend. The flex ticket will only be offered until March 1.
