It is far from a secret that soccer is not my favorite sport but I love the US teams. Whether it's in the Olympics or World Cup I will watch and cheer for the US Men's and Women's teams. The women's team is always easier to root for because, let's face it, the ladies are better in international play than the men are. So when I heard that Hudson Valley Community College is having one of the best, most successful, and Iconic players of all time, Abby Wambach, speak at a virtual event, that got my attention.

The Troy Record is reporting that "Wambach will make a virtual appearance at Hudson Valley Community College on March 4 under the co-sponsorship of the Cultural Affairs Program and Athletics Department."

This is a great get for HVCC. Abby Wambach's post soccer life is pretty much as accomplished as her playing days. The Rochester New York native now wears the titles of New York Times Best Selling Author, Speaker, and Activist. Wambach's message of empowerment of women through their "wolfpack" is something any "girl dad" should want their daughter to read.

HVCC is offering Wambach's virtual appearance free of charge. You just need to register HERE. Just in case you want to know more about why the HVCC Cultural and Athletic Departments chose to have Wambach speak on Thursday, March 4th here's their write up:

Wambach is the author of the New York Times bestseller, “Forward: A Memoir” (2016). She is co-founder of Wolfpack Endeavor, which is revolutionizing leadership development for women in the workplace and beyond through individualized coaching and a team-bound focus. A second book, “WOLFPACK: How to Come Together, Unleash Our Power, and Change the Game” (2019) was followed by a young readers’ edition. Simply titled “WOLFPACK,” the 2020 book inspires young people to “find their voice, unite their pack and change the world.” Wambach lives in Florida with her wife and three children.
