Spurs One Win Away
MIAMI (AP) — The San Antonio Spurs have taken a three-games-to-one lead in the NBA Finals by putting together another dominant performance in the first half against the Heat in Miami.
The Spurs carried a 55-36 lead into halftime and cruised to a 107-86 win over the Heat. San Antonio shot 56 percent in the opening half while holding the Heat to just 35 percent. That came one game after the Spurs set an NBA Finals record by shooting 76 percent to take a 21-point halftime lead over Miami on Tuesday.
Kawhi Leonard had team highs of 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Spurs, while Tony Parker added 19 points. They combined to hit 15 of their 27 shots, a major reason for San Antonio's 57-percent success rate.
LeBron James was the only Heat player to finish with more than 12 points, scoring a game-high 28 and grabbing eight rebounds. Dwyane Wade missed 10 of his 13 shots while scoring just 10 points.
The Spurs now have three chances to win their fifth title and end Miami's two-year reign as champions, one year after they blew a 3-2 series lead. Game 5 is Sunday at San Antonio. No team has overcome a 3-1 deficit in the finals.
The Heat owned an 11-game home playoff winning streak until they were outscored by a combined 40 points in the first half the last two games.
