Hurricane Irene is having a huge impact on the entire east coast with evacuations, power outages and massive flooding.  Irene is wreaking havoc in the sports world as well.

Sunday's entire 11-race card at Saratoga Race Course has been canceled due to the hurricane.

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) announced that there will be no live racing at Saratoga Race Course on Sunday, August 28. Live racing at Saratoga is expected to resume Monday, August 29.

The Grade 1 Personal Ensign, originally scheduled for Sunday, will be re-drawn on Wednesday, August 31 and run Saturday, September 3 on a card that will also include the Grade 1 Woodward and Grade 1 Forego.

Additionally, as earlier announced, there will be no simulcasting at either Aqueduct Racetrack or the Belmont Café on Sunday.

This is the first time an entire racing card at Saratoga has been wiped out.  Back in August of 2006, NYRA canceled racing due to extreme heat.
