Old rivals meet again.  This is really the rivalry though, not that silly Yankees-Mets thing.  Speaking of which, the Yanks come into the series with Boston in the Bronx tumbling down a hill, having lost four straight to the Mets.  Boston, meanwhile, comes off a series split with Phildelphia.  Here is a Boston-New York series preview.

CC Sabathia struggled through his first 5 innings of the 2013 MLB regular season, allowing four runs and walking four batters. His pitching line was just a small example of a painful start to the season, with very few bright spots from the entire team. For the first time since 1986, the New York Yankees lost a home game on Opening Day, going down the Boston Red Sox 8-2 in the Bronx.

The Yankees got a much needed win against their AL East rival Red Sox on Friday night as they defeated the Red Sox 3-2. The key to their victory were the 4 solid innings turned in by their bullpen, who did not allow a run. Yankees also got timely hitting to knock in their go-ahead run. The Red Sox finished off a three-game sweep against the Yankees with a 7-5 win against New York on Sunday night.  Two very interesting things happened in this series, including something that should never happen.
