The regular-season home slate ended on a bittersweet note for the Tri-City ValleyCats on Monday night. The short-season Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros lost a pair of one-run games to the Lowell Spinners, 5-4 in ten innings and 3-2 in seven, but the ValleyCats set a new franchise attendance record for the eighth consecutive season.

Third baseman Matt Duffy, center fielder Justin Gominsky and pitcher Kyle Hallock will represent the team in the NYPL All-Star Game - which takes place on August 16th at LeLacheur Park in Lowell.

Former Tri-City ValleyCat Hunter Pence was selected as a reserve for the National League All-Star team on Sunday.  He'll be the lone representative for the Houston Astros. This is the second All-Star Game selection for Pence since breaking into the big leagues in 2007.
