Despite speculation that she was getting ready to head to a more prominent program in women's college basketball, UAlbany women's head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is staying put at SEFCU Arena, inking an extension through the 2017-2018 season.

After graduating during the 2011-2012 men's basketball season, then-UAlbany shooting guard Logan Aronhalt was aware he still had one year of eligibility remaining, giving him a choice about whether or not he wanted to use it. Aronhalt went on to use his final year of eligibility under Mark Turgeon at the University of Maryland, and now it looks like the move paid off.

After a 27-3 season that included an 18-0 mark in America East play en route to a conference title, the UAlbany Great Danes women's basketball team has earned a 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will play North Carolina in Newark, Delaware on Sunday at 2:30 p.m..

Coming into Selection Sunday, the Albany Great Danes were unsure as to where they were going to be playing and as what seed. Now they know, as the selection committee has chosen them as a 15 seed and the opponent of the 2 seed Duke Blue Devils in Philadelphia in the midwest region.
