August in the Capital Region is a busy and exciting time, culminating in the Travers Stakes at the Saratoga Race Course on Aug. 29th.

However, once the Travers is done, the good times don't end. August 31st is this year's "Teeing Off on Cancer" event at Saratoga National Golf Club.

We spoke to Darren Bennett, the head women's basketball coach at Skidmore, who is in charge of the event to learn more and you can listen here:

This is the eighth year of the event and, to date, area coaches, sports fans, volunteers and business leaders have teamed up to raise more $ 300,000.00. This year, the event has teamed up with the Catie Hoch Foundation. According to the organization's website, 100 percent of the proceeds from this year’s Teeing Off on Cancer Event will be given to the Catie Hoch Foundation so they can continue the great services they provide to our neighbors in need.

You can also learn more about the event and a full schedule of the day here.
