The Jets Start To Cut Down The Roster
Well after the strange, boring, sloppily played 3rd exhibition game Saturday vs the NY Giants, The Jets have begun to slice the roster down to an opening day allotted 53 and there were a few surprises on cut down Monday for the Green and White.
The biggest shock easily is running back/kick returner Joe McKnight. The Jets didn't play McKnight Saturday night even though he was ready to go finally. McKnight has has a several injuries, the latest being a head injury that no one ever was able to explain fully.
McKnight played 3 years for the Jets and did some nice things. For example he returned a pair of kick offs for touchdowns. he rushed for over 500 yards while used sparingly as a running back. He also caught 2 touchdown passes.
However McKnight has had some issues while a member of the Jets. he was fingered as the source of a recent controversy in which Jets players were basically given cue cards on how to answer questions from a nosy media.
Joining McKnight on the currently unemployed line will be wide receiver Braylon Edwards. he was attempting to return to the Jets after being resigned late last season.
Punter Ryan Quigley was sliced after having a terrible game Saturday night. That means that Robert Malone holds onto his job-for now.
Offensive lineman Stephen Peterman was the final announced cut this morning. Some expected that he might get the nod at left guard where incompetent Vladimir Ducasse has struggled much of his career. It now looks as if Ducasse will start the season at that position. Good grief!
