Wednesday, Tiger Woods officially kicked off his 2011 season by entering the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, scheduled from January 27-30 in San Diego.

While the weather in Upstate New York may seem fitting for football and hockey, in some place of the world they are not so lucky.  In places like San Diego, they are playing golf and Tiger wants to play.  The Farmers Insurance Open will be the first event of Tiger’s 2011 campaign to return to normalcy and will be held at Torrey Pines, where Tiger has won the last five times he has played, including the 2008 U.S. Open when he beat Rocco Mediate in the playoff on one good leg.

Tiger has not played at Torrey Pines over the last two years, missing in 2009 while rehabbing his knee after surgery, and missed last year while dealing with his much publicized personal issues following his extramarital affairs.

Woods has not won a professional tournament since November 2009, when he won the Australian Masters.  Since that time, he has relinquished his World No. 1 ranking to Englishman, Lee Westwood.

Woods was introspective with his tweet regarding his return:

"I've been working hard on my game, it's game time hooah!!"

Nevermind, that wasn’t introspective at all, but I do love a good “hooah”, Scent of a Woman reference. But I digress; I’m just fired up for Tiger to get back into form and for golf to be back in full swing. Spring is almost here!
