Congratulations to the Tri-City ValleyCats on setting a new franchise record for wins with a victory Wednesday night vs. the Tigers of Connecticut.

The ValleyCats won the ballgame 8-4 with Jarrod McKinney and Emilio King each plating a pair of runs.

The victory is the 50th of the year for the ValleyCats, which right now is 10 more then their parent club, the awful Houston Astros.

Brian Holmes  pitched 5 innings for his 7th win of the year against 2 losses. That might make him the ace of the lousy Astros staff.

The ValleyCats hit 3 home runs in the win. King clobbered 1 of them. In total, the Cats smacked 15 hits in the win.

The last time the ValleyCats won 50 games in a campaign was back in 2004, and there are still 7 games left in the season.

Meantime the Houston Astros have won only 40 games with a much LARGER payroll.
