Totally Cool New Waterpark Ride Unveiled in the Capital Region
Certainly when you contemplate surfing (or more likely IF you've every contemplated surfing), you'll notice a lack of waves in the area... or for that matter, an ocean. But, maybe you've seen these type of rides or something similar at waterparks, resorts, or even on cruise ships. Did you know that many of them are designed right here in the Capital Region?
A company called Aquatic Development Group in Cohoes designs and builds all kinds of water recreation projects for theme parks and resorts all over the world. This week, they debuted their newest creation called EpicSurf.
The concept: If you can't get to the ocean, this gets the ocean to you. Kind of. The team held a demonstration in their parking lot on Wednesday where they showcased the new ride to the public.
ADG's Marketing and Communications Specialist, Julie St. Louis talked to News 10 about their new ride:
EpicSurf brings surfing inland. So people who don’t have access to the ocean or can’t afford to travel to the ocean will have the ability to have the experience. Whether or not you’re a pro or a beginner, you’re able to get on the bar and get the feel for it and learn how to surf.
Wednesday's reveal was just a parking lot demonstration, so it's not open to the public. But ADG says they're looking at getting it into waterparks around the country and in New York very soon.
According to their website, ADG has designed waterparks for the Columbus Zoo, Gaylord Palms in Orlando, and Soaky Mountain Waterpark near Knoxville, TN.
