Local boxing returns to the Capital District on Friday, when Ares Promotions' "Trick or Beat" card takes place at the Empire State Plaza.

It's only the second boxing event at the "Egg" in the past 21 years.

"It’s a pretty nice place," said Troy native Shawn Miller, who will face Mark Anderson, in a four-round bout. "I’m really excited to fight there and in front of the hometown crowd."

The main event pits Jose Medina (15-9-1) against undefeated Chris Fitzpatrick (14-0), in a 10-round match.

For tickets, contact Ares at 518-527-2331 or go to AresPromotions.com.

"Our main focus was let's get back fights back in Albany that are high level and have the potential to have knockouts and knock downs," said Ares Promotions' Adam Neary. "A little bit more of true just, out of control, Halloween gruesome type of fights."

Neary and his team at Ares are very excited about this card and think it will have a little bit of everything for the fans.

"We're excited about it because, for the fan, either side can win any one of these fights," he said.

This card is the sixth for Ares Promotions, which has made its calling card, entertaining the fans. They've done all they can to make sure boxing fans are happy, but they also want to appeal to people looking for good entertainment.

"For our tenure, it's the most exciting card," Neary said. "We have a lot of local gyms that are represented."

Local fighters Jaci Trivilino (Plattsburgh), Markus Williams (Schenectady), Javy Martinez (Albany), Sarah Kuhn (Schoharie) and Miller are all on the card.

Here is a link to my story that ran in Monday's Troy Record about Miller and his continued path down his professional career.

In the Halloween spirit, the intermission will have a "Thriller" dance with the dancers dressed like mummies.
