“supafunkrock” is coming to the Capital Region
The late, great Greg Haymes from Nippertown once wrote "Whenever Trombone Shorty is in town, we're partyin"
Troy Andrews, better known by his stage name Trombone Shorty, made a name for himself in New Orleans with his eclectic style, and has been involved in music his entire life. He made his onstage debut at just 4 years of age, alongside legendary icon Bo Diddley, and led his own brass band just two years later at the age of 6. As a teenager, he was eventually hired by Lenny Kravitz to join the Electric Church World Tour.
In just the past 15 years he's released 5 studio albums that hit the top of the charts. The list of artists he's collaborated with is unbelievably impressive. From Jeff Beck and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Ringo Starr, Bruno Mars and the Foo Fighters. He's performed in The White House on six different occasions, and has commanded stages at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Newport Folk, and many more.
During his time in New Orleans, Shordy has led his own Mardi Gras parade atop a giant float made to look just like him. He hosts the annual Treme Threauxdown shows and has completely taken over the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival's hallowed final set. Which has seen him close out the renowned gathering after performances by greats like Neil Young, the Black Keys, and Kings of Leon.
Trombone Shorty is set to bring his phenomenal style to the Capital Region on October 20th at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Tickets are not on sale just yet, but they will be in the future at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall website.
