Alex Morgan scored in the 53rd minute to give the United States Women's National Team a 1-0 lead -- and a Carli Lloyd penalty kick in the 66th minute sealed a win in the World Cup for the U.S. over Colombia.

The win will pit the United States against China in the World Cup Quarterfinal on Friday at 8 p.m. EST. It's the first time the teams have met in World Cup play since the 1999 final where Brandi Chastain scored the game-winning goal.

Morgan's goal was her first of the tournament. The star has battled injury for several months and came off the bench in the first two U.S. games. She started last night for the first time in the World Cup.

Lloyd's PK sealed the win for the U.S., who experts say still haven't hit their stride in this tournament.

The U.S. will be shorthanded against China, as Megan Rapinoe and Lauren Holiday are suspended for one game. Both earned their second yellow cards of the tournament.
