Earlier today the US Women battled their way to a 3-1 win over France to earn their way into the World Cup final.  Japan will be the team that they face as the Japanese national team beat Sweden 3-1 this afternoon.

Japan fell into an early deficit to Sweden, but was able to come back thanks to to goals by Nahomi Kawasumi, who was called up as a starter just today.  She didn't waste any time making a name for herself.

Japan totally caught Sweden off guard in the second half and dominated.  Sweden has long been a big time power in Women's soccer, while Japan is kind of an up an coming team.  Perhaps the tide has turned a little bit. After the match the team held a giant banner that read 'To our friends around the world- Thank you for your support".  That of course due to all the trouble with the Tsunami and earthquake that hit a few months ago and devastated their country. A very touching moment.  This years final will certainly be one to remember.  It will take place on Sunday starting at 2:45 on ESPN.
