The Tri-City ValleyCats Frontier League era will begin with a familiar name to MLB fans as the manager, Pete Incaviglia is the newest skipper. The ValleyCats announced the addition of the 12 year MLB veteran today on Twitter and the team's website Thursday morning. Incaviglia has been coaching and managing baseball since 2001 and now he'll be managing at Joe Bruno Stadium.

Ever since the MLB's new restructuring of the minor league system left the VallyeCats without a Big League affiliate there have been many questions as to what would be next for baseball in the Capital Region. The first question was what independent league would the Cats join? The Frontier League is the answer to that question. Even though the Frontier League is a well-known and expanding league we here in the Capital Region aren't all that familiar with it so adding a former MLB player that has an extensive resume as a coach adds to the team's on-field credit. Incaviglia plus the normal great family fun "The Joe" has always provided means there's little doubt baseball is back to stay in Troy.
