Verrazano has been labeled the most talented horse of the three-year old variety right now.  The animal's trainer is Todd Pletcher.  Verrazano is jockeyed by Hall of Famer John Velazquez.  This all sets-up for one thing.

2013 Horse of the Year.

Verrazano is running with incredible momentum after a 9 3/4th length win at the Haskell at Monmouth Park and already holds wins in the Pegasus Stakes-G3Wood Memorial-G1 and Tampa Bay Derby-G2.  Think what a couple more high stakes wins would do the rest of the way, especially the highly-anticipated Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on August 24 should the horse stay healthy.

There is still plenty of horse racing left, but Verrazano is in good shape for top horse, and for not winning a Triple Crown race this season, that is all you can ask for.
