The Madness is here as the brackets are now officially out for the 2024 NCAA Tournament.  We always love to follow our local 518 products and there are three of them in this year's March Madness.  Six seed Clemson has Joseph Girard III form Glens Falls.  Nine seed Northwestern has Boo Buie from Albany.  And thirteen seed Yale has August Mahoney from Saratoga.  Yale is also coached by James Jones who played under Doc Sayers years ago at UAlbany.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

Albany Academy grade August Mahoney is one of the best three-point shooters in the country and he hit two huge threes late in the game on Sunday when Yale beat Brown at the buzzer to win the Ivy League championship and go back to the NCAA tournament. Mahoney, who is from Saratoga is coached by James Jones who played and coached under legendary head coach Doc Sauers at UAlbany. Mahoney was an outstanding high school player for former Academy head coach Brian Frusio, and his career at Yale is one for the record books. It's fun watching local players thrive on the big stage.

We will be closely tuned in to all three players on both 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio and WNYT NewsChannel 13 when they all play on Friday afternoon and evening.  Please enjoy the Madness on Thursday and Friday and all weekend as there will be plenty of games and upsets.  MJ and I both agree it is one of the greatest tournaments in all of sports.
